MOSCOW, May 6 (RIA Novosti) - Vladimir Putin said that the historic reconciliation between the German and Russian people is an objective fact.

When asked by the Bild whether he has personally forgiven the Germans, Putin said: “This question sounds somewhat strange for me and for the majority of my age-mates. It is not so emotional for me as it is for the older generation. I have not been through the war horrors.”

The Russian President recalled that both Germans and Russians had to go through many dramatic events in their history. “I’m convinced that we have become wiser, and have learnt to value more the human life, freedom, and good relations with our neighbors. The historic reconciliation of Germans and Russians is an objective fact,” Putin declared in an interview with the Bild.
