MOSCOW, April 26 (RIA Novosti) - An international relay race
to start on April 27 in Red Square will be devoted to VE-Day’s 60th anniversary
and the 40th anniversary of conferring the honorary title of Hero City on
Moscow.
The relay will pass through Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, the Belarussian
embassy in Moscow reported.
Athletes from the best amateur clubs and sport veterans from Russia, Belarus,
Ukraine, Kazakhstan and some non-CIS countries will take part in the race.
The athletes will pass through Belarus on April 30-May 5. They will run
through Gomel, Kalinkovichi, Mikashevici, Pinsk, Brest, Bereza, Baranovichi,
Stolbtsy, Minsk and Orsha. In these cities, participants will attend festive
meetings and the ceremonies of laying wreaths to the monuments to the defenders
of the Fatherland.
The relay race will finish on May 8 at Moscow’s Poklonnaya
Hill.
