Putin, Schroeder Visit Soviet POW Cemetery

HANOVER, April 11 (RIA Novosti) – Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder visited the Soviet POW memorial cemetery here Monday.

They brought a wreath of red roses to pay tribute to the fallen. People from other countries killed by Nazis are also buried here.

The ceremony is being called vivid evidence of Russian-German reconciliation and the future partnership of the two countries. The inscriptions on the tricolor ribbons read “From the Russian President” and “From the German Chancellor.”

In all, 386 people, mainly Russian citizens, are buried in the cemetery.
