MOSCOW, March 29 (RIA Novosti) – Alexander Lebedev, deputy
chairman of the State Duma’s CIS Committee, told a press conference at RIA
Novosti on Tuesday that Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko’s decision to
visit Moscow on May 8 instead of May 9 made sense.
“Yushchenko’s rationale behind the decision is quite adequate in my opinion.
He wants to stay in Ukraine on May 9,” said Lebedev.
Lebedev believes it would be inappropriate to “leave veterans alone” on that
day.
“I believe this is a sensible decision,” said the MP.
