The troops of the 2nd BELARUSSIAN Front, pursuing the offensive, forced the STRALSUNDER FAHRWASSER Strait, seized on the RUGEN island the towns of BERGEN, GARZ, PUTBUS, SASSNITZ, and on May 6 seized the whole of the RUGEN island. Fighting on May 5, the troops of the front took 4,660 Nazi men and officers prisoner and captured 24 aircraft and 215 guns. Among those taken prisoner was Rear Admiral Horstmann, chief of the mobilization department of the Stettin Military District.  

The troops of the 1st BELARUSSIAN Front, advancing northwest and west of the city of BRANDENBURG, seized the large settlements of SANDAU, WULKAU, KLITZ, FERCHL, FIERTIZ, SCHLAGENTIN, PLAUE, GROSS WUSTERWITZ, KADE, KAROW.  On May 5, the troops of the front took 17,120 Nazi men and officers prisoner and captured 119 aircraft and 235 guns.

The troops of the 4th UKRAINIAN Front, advancing west and southwest of the town of MORAVSKA OSTRAVA, took by force the towns of BENIS, STEINBERG, PPIBOR, NOVE JICIN, FRENSTAT, VALASSKE MEZIRICI, HOLESOV. Fighting on May 5, the troops of the front took 1,000 Nazi men and officers prisoner.

Northeast of the town of BRNO, the troops of the 2nd UKRAINIAN Front, took by force town of KOJETIN and the large settlements of FRISTAM, MARTINICE, GULIN.  

The situation did not change considerably on the other sections of the front.
