On April 18, the 3rd Belarussian Front forces carried on mopping up the remainder of the enemy force driven to the vicinity of the port of Pillau. On April 17, our troops took 8,730 prisoners and captured 80 tanks and self-propelled guns, 69 armored personnel carriers, 544 field guns, 416 mortars, 888 machineguns and 4,000 wheeled vehicles. Col. Tempelhof, officer commanding the 28th Infantry Division, is among the prisoners.

Southwest and south of the town of Ratibor, the 4th Ukrainian Front forces chased the enemy out of more than 30 settlements, including the towns of Burgfeld, Pyltsz, Oldrzychow, Krawarze, Zabrzeg, Dolny Beneszow, Bohuslavice, Rogow and Guzice.

In Czechoslovakia, the 2nd Ukrainian Front forces took the town of Ivancice and the settlements of Vracov, Milotice, Klobouki, Zidlochowice, Rajhrad, Sirovice, Melcany, Nemcicky, Medlow, Smolyn. North of Vienna, our troops seized the Austrian town of Mistelbach and the villages of Rabensburg, Hausbrunn, Kreuzstetten, Gross Russbach, Weinsteig, Getzmannsdorf, Mollmannsdorf and Ruckersdorf and the railroad station of Ulrich.

Reconnaissance operations and local fighting continued throughout the rest of the front.

On April 17, 98 enemy tanks and self-propelled guns were damaged and destroyed and 90 enemy aircraft were downed in aerial combat and by anti-aircraft guns on all fronts.
