In the course of February 18, our troops, fighting to eliminate the Nazi Eastern-Prussian group south of KONIGSBERG, seized the settlements of ROBITTEN, GALLINGEN, ORSCHEN, WILDENHOFF, BUCHHOLZ, LEISS, LANGWALDE.

In the area of GRUDZIADZ (GRAUDENZ), our troops, attacking northward along the west bank of the VISTULA, completed the encirclement of the enemy’s garrison defending in the town of GRUDZIADZ (GRAUDENZ) and seized the settlements of GROSS-DRAGAS, KRUSCH, MONTAU, GROSS SIBSAU, WAHRLUBIN.

South of the town of STARGARD in POMERANIA, our troops successfully repelled the attacks of the enemy’s infantry and tanks. Simultaneously, in the woods north of SCHNEIDEMUHL, our troops eliminated yet another encircled enemy group, taking about 2,000 enemy men and officers prisoner, including Col. KURHAUP, head of the engineering service of the Schneidemuhl garrison.

In BRANDENBURG, south of the town of SCHWERIN, our troops blocked a permanent enemy fortified stronghold consisting of 30 iron-and-concrete defensive structures. After a long siege and heavy artillery fire, the garrison of this stronghold capitulated. Our troops took 1,245 Nazi men and officers prisoner, capturing the following trophies: 48 guns, 25 mortars, 15 fire-throwers, 230 machineguns, 800 carbines, 40 motor vehicles, 338 trailers.

In POZNAN, fighting to eliminate the enemy’s garrison holding CITADEL continued.

In SCHLESIEN, our troops seized the towns of SAGAN and NAUMBURG.

Southwest and south of the town of BRESLAU (BRESLAVL), our troops seized, as result of offensive battles, the settlements of LANDAU, BEILAU, KAPSDORF, GROSS SEGEWITZ, TROSDORF, DUKOWITZ, JASWITZ, KLEIN-TINTZ, DURR-HARTAU, TIEFENSEE, PUDIGAU. Simultaneously, fighting to eliminate the enemy garrison encircled in the town of BRESLAU continued.

East of KOMARNO on the north bank of the DANUBE, our troops continued repelling large enemy infantry and tank attacks. Fighting in this area on February 17, our troops disabled and destroyed 43 enemy tanks.

Reconnaissance raids and local fighting in a number of areas were reported on the other sections of the front.

On February 17, 115 German tanks were disabled and destroyed on all fronts. A total of 88 enemy aircraft were brought down in aerial combat or by anti-aircraft guns.
