In the course of February 21, our troops, fighting on the SAMLAND Peninsula, repelled enemy infantry and tank attacks striving to force their way from KONIGSBERG to PILLAU. After stubborn battles, our troops left several settlements. Simultaneously, south and southwest of KONIGSBERG, our troops, closing the encirclement of the enemy’s Eastern-Prussian group, took by force the settlements of SCHWENGELS, MAGGEN, AUGAM, WORSCHIENEN, BLUMSTEIN, PETERSWALDE, HOGENDORF, STRAUBENDORF, SCHONDAMERAU. Fighting west and southwest of KONIGSBERG on February 20, our troops disabled and destroyed 60 German tanks and self-propelled guns.

On February 21, the troops of the 2nd BELARUSSIAN Front, continuing their offensive, took by force the town of CERSK, an important communications center and a powerful enemy defensive stronghold in the northwest of Poland, as well as over 40 other settlements, including the large settlements of JESEWITZ, NICHTSFELDE, PESKERFELDE, KIRCHENAN, OSIEK, OCCIPEL, SCHONBERG.

In the BRANDENBURG Province, our troops took by force the towns of PFERTEN, PRIIEBUS and seized over 50 other settlements, including the large settlements of LAMO, KUSCHERN, VORSTADT, GOHREN, NIEWERLE, ZSECHELN, GREIFENHEIM, GROSS SELTEN, LEIPPA. Fighting in this area on February 20, our troops disabled and destroyed 49 German tanks.

In the area of BRESLAU, our troops fought to eliminate the enemy’s garrison encircled in the town.

East of the town of KOMARNO on the north bank of the DANUBE, our troops were repelling the attacks of the enemy’s infantry and tanks. A total of 38 German tanks and self-propelled guns were disabled and destroyed in this area on February 20.

Reconnaissance raids and local fighting in a number of areas were reported on the other sections of the front.

On February 20, 180 German tanks and self-propelled guns were disabled and destroyed on all fronts. A total of 67 enemy aircraft were brought down in aerial combat or by anti-aircraft guns.
