Southwest of Königsberg, the 3rd Belarussian Front forces fought on March 22 to defeat the enemy blocked near the coast of the Frisches Haff Bay in the vicinity of Heiligenbeil and drove enemy troops out of the settlements of Mukuhnen, Gabditten, Schirten, Heinrichshof and Helenenhof. On March 22, the Red Army captured more than 800 prisoners in the area.

On March 21, southwest of Königsberg, the 3rd Belarussian Front forces continued to destroy the East Prussian enemy grouping and, approaching the Frisches Haff Bay coast, took the settlements of Bolbitten, Stuthenen, Newecken, Grunau, Radau and Alt Passarge. According to additional information, in the battle for the town of Braunsberg, the Red Army captured 204 tanks, 25 armored personnel carriers, 109 mortars, 204 machineguns, 1,050 wheeled vehicles, 5 steam engines, 633 railroad cars and 17 depots.

On March 20, the 3rd Belarussian Front forces kept on defeating enemy forces in the East Prussia, during which they took the town of Braunsberg – a formidable German strongpoint on the coast of the Frisches Haff Bay – and dislodged the enemy out of more than 40 other settlements, e.g. Fedderau, Wesslienen, Cordommen, Rauschnick, Thomsdorf, Wermten, Hammerrsdorf and Neu Passarge. During March 19 and 20, the Front’s forces took there over 4,000 prisoners as well as over 300 guns.

On March 19, the Red Army successfully fought southwest of Königsberg to defeat the East Prussian enemy grouping and, moving to the Friestaf Bay coast, took upwards of 30 settlements, namely Scholen, Windkeim, Pottligen, Kirschheiten, Schreinen, Quillitten, Neuwald, Freihufen, Gallingen, Grunwalde, Waltersdorf, Birkenau, Neubahnau, Pagendorf, Schillgehnen, Klein Amstmuhle, Sagern, Marienfelde, Willenberg, Stangendorf and Kalberhaus.

On March 18, southwest of Kongsberg, the Red Army fought to defeat the East Prussian enemy grouping and, narrowing the noose, cleared over 40 settlements of Germans, including Korschenruh, Patersort, Ludwigsort, Schwanis, Rippen, Laukitten, Preussisch Tierau, Lonhofen, Mahlendorf, Rehfeld and Grunenfeld. More than 800 prisoners were captured in the area.

On March 17, southwest of Königsberg, the Red Army kept on defeating the East Prussian enemy grouping and drove the enemy out of the settlements of Brandenburg, Poplitten, Porschken, Legmitten, Praussen, Pannwitz, Warnikam, Vorder-Freudenthal, Deutsch Thierau and Bilshofen. More than 700 prisoners were captured in the area on March 16.

On March 16, advancing southwest of Königsberg, Soviet troops took the settlements of Pokarben, Tengen, Schoyschen, Vesdelen, Kranzberg, Stobecken, Fuchsberg, Jarftthal, Freudenthal, Lauterbach, Frenzelswalde and Herzogswalde. More than 600 prisoners were taken there on March 15.

On March 15, the offensive of the 3rd Belarussian Front forces southwest of Königsberg resulted in the Red Army reaching the coast of the Frisches Haff Bay and taking the settlements of Wangitt, Dumpelkrug, Pinnau, Albehnen and Einsam. The town of Heide Waldburg, which is 8 km southwest of Königsberg changed hands several times and was finally captured by the Red Army.

On March 14, the 3rd Belarussian Front forces advanced destroying the East-Prussian enemy grouping, during which they took the settlements of Gross Klingbeck, Grunewiese, Lank, Bartlangen, Hirschken, Hanswalde, Gross Lutkenfurst, Schonlinde, Neuenglich, Rodersdorf, Hohenwalde, Breitlinde, Lindenau and the railroad station of Vogelsang. Over 2,000 German officers and men were taken prisoner.

On March 13, southeast of Danzig, the Red Army, advancing northwards along the east bank of the Vistula River, captured the settlements of Reimerswalde, Neu Teichenwalde, Vierzehnhuben, Breckerfeld, Prangenau, Neukirch and Palschau. Northwest of the town of Gdynia, the Red Army took the settlements of Reda, Polchau, Bresen, Oslanin, Rutzau, Gnesdau Schwarzau, Hallerowo and Chlapau...
