In the course of February 20, our troops, fighting on the SAMLAND Peninsula repelled enemy infantry and tanks the attacks striving, despite heavy losses, to force their way from the city of KONIGSBERG to the west. Simultaneously, southwest of KONIGSBERG, our troops, closing the encirclement of the enemy’s Eastern-Prussian group, seized the settlements of ALBENLAUK, NEMRITTEN, KANDITTEN, GUTTENFELD, EICHHOLZ, WOLAU, GAUDEN, PACKHAUSEN, BORCHERTSDORF. Fighting in this area on February 19, our troops disabled and destroyed 70 German tanks and took over 600 Nazi men and officers prisoner.

South of DANZIG, our troops, continuing the offensive along the west bank of the VISTULA, took by force over 50 settlements, including the large settlements of MUNSTERWALDE, HALBDORF, LALKAU, JASZCZERSK, KASPARUS, LINOWEG, GROSS SCHLIEWITZ, HAGENORT, SZLIACHTA. In the town of GRUDZIADZ (GRAUDENZ), fighting to eliminate the encircled enemy garrison continued.

In the BRANDENBURG Province, our troops seized, as result of offensive battles, the towns of GROSSEN, BOBERSBERG, CHRISTIANSTADT and over 80 other settlements, including ALTENFELD, NOUENDORF, LINDENHEIM, SCHEGELN, DAUBE, LAUBNIZ, GURKAU, MARSDORF, BUHRAU. Fighting in this area on February 19, our troops took over 1,000 enemy men and officers prisoner.

In the area of BRESLAU, fighting to eliminate the enemy group encircled in the town continued.

Northwest of the town of LUCENEC in Czechoslovakia, our troops, operating in the difficult conditions of a forested mountain area in the Carpathians, took by force over 60 settlements, including the large settlements of SKLJAROWO, DUBRAVY, DETVA, KRIVAN, DRUHAJOVCI, STARA HUTTA, CSERWENA.

East of the town of KOMARNO on the north bank of the DANUBE, our troops successfully repelled the attacks of the enemy’s large infantry and tank forces. A total of 60 German tanks were disabled and destroyed in the fighting in this area on February 19.

Reconnaissance raids and local fighting in a number of areas were reported on the other sections of the front.

On February 19, 206 German tanks were disabled and destroyed on all fronts. A total of 109 enemy aircraft were brought down in aerial combat or by anti-aircraft guns.
