In the course of February 16, our troops seized, as a result of offensive fighting northeast and north of the town of BYDGOSZCZ (BROMBERG), the settlements of KLEIN TASCHAU, JESZEWO, LIASKOWIZ, BUCIG, LUDWIGSTHAL, KLEIN GACNO, SCHMIEDERBRUCH.

In POZNAN, fighting to eliminate the enemy’s garrison holding the CITADEL district and four suburbs on the east bank of the river continued.

West of the town of GRUNBERG, our troops, continuing their offensive, reached the BOBER river, seizing over 50 settlements, including the large settlements of ROTENBURG, TIMMENDORF, RUSDORF, DEUTSCH ZAGAR, KOSSAR, WEISSIG, REICHENAU. Fighting south of the town of GRUNBERG on February 15, our troops took over 1,500 Nazi men and officers prisoner, seized an ammunition dump with 350 guns, 1,500 gun and mortar barrels, 1,500 heavy machineguns and a large amount of ammunition.

In the area of BRESLAU (BRESLAVL), our troops, attacking the town from north, west and south, closed the encirclement of the enemy group defending the town of BRESLAU (BRESLAVL). During offensive battles, our troops seized in that locality over 200 settlements, including the towns of HUNDSFELD, DEUTSCH LISSA, WANSEN and the large settlements of MARGARET, DRACHENBRUNN, SAKRAU, PASCHKERWITZ, SCHEBITZ, SCHONGARTEN, DOBRUCK, KLETTENDORF, KATTERN, KRAFTBORN.

In the woods northwest of BUDAPEST, our troops completed the elimination of the scattered enemy groups that had forced their way from the western part of BUDAPEST. Fighting in this area on February 15, our troops took over 3,400 enemy men and officers prisoner and picked up 200 enemy machineguns, 4,000 rifles and 1,500 submachine-guns on the battlefield.

Reconnaissance raids and local fighting in a number of areas were reported on the other sections of the front.

On February 15, 117 German tanks were disabled and destroyed on all fronts. A total of 39 enemy aircraft were brought down in aerial combat or by anti-aircraft guns.

In the city of Poznan, fighting to eliminate the encircled enemy garrison continued. The Nazis have entrenched themselves in the citadel and in suburbs on the east bank of the Warta and are offering stubborn resistance. Soviet infantry and artillery men, eliminating enemy weapon emplacements and personnel, are mopping up the last enemy groups in the city. Up to a thousand Nazis were eliminated during one day. A total of 78 machineguns, 3,000 rifles and submachine-guns, two army depots, 3,000 shells and 2,000 hand grenades were captured. A total of 550 enemy men and officers were taken prisoner.
