Exploiting their success along the southern bank of the Danube, the 2nd Ukrainian Front forces had seized the town and key road junction of Magyarovar by late April 2 and, in conjunction with Romanian troops, overrun the town and railroad station of Kremnica, a major German strongpoint at the southern slope of the Velka Fatra ridge. They also seized over 150 other settlements, among which major ones were Spania Dolina, Kunesov, Janova Lehota, Velke Uherce, Zabokreky, Hinorany, Jacovce, Bojna, Drahovce, Dolny Krupo, Smolenice, Ompital, Casta, Svaty Jur, Prjevoz, Narlburg, Kittsee, Lajtakortvelyes, Gattendorf, Parndorf, Gols, and Podersdorf and the Hinorany, Radosina, Velky Kostolany, Boleraz, Rajka, Karlburg, Kittsee, Zurndorf and Gattendorf railroad stations. Over 11,000 enemy personnel were taken prisoner on April 2 by the forces of the Front.

The 3rd Ukrainian Front’s advancing armored and infantry forces seized Wiener Neustadt, an industrial Austrian city and a major railroad center, and towns of Eisenstadt, Neuenkirchen and Gloggnitz – key German strongpoints on the Vienna approach as well as more than 100 other settlements, including such major ones as Oggau, Donerskirchen, Hof, Pottendorf, Ebenfurt, Blumau, Ebreichsdorf, Mittendorf, Felm, Munchendorf, Traiskierchen, Mazendorf, Fischau and Weikersdorf. At the same time, the friendly forces, which advanced in conjunction with the Bulgarian Army, captured over 80 towns and villages, among them Sebeborcy, Murska Sobota, Baglad, Mikefa, Varfolde, Banokszentgyorgy, Becsehely, Kotoriba and Dolny Dubrava. During April 2, our troops took over 12,000 enemy personnel prisoner and seized 30 aircraft, 71 tanks and self-propelled guns, 27 armored personnel carriers, 124 field guns, 129 machineguns, 159 wheeled vehicles, 25 steam engines, 927 railroad cars and 38 arms and subsistence depots.

No major changes were reported on the other parts of the front.

During April 2, there were 25 German tanks and self-propelled guns damaged and destroyed and 34 enemy aircraft downed in aerial combat or by anti-aircraft guns.
