On October 10 on the island of SAAREMAA (EZEL), our forces continued to mop up the enemy force on the southern end of the island.

Our forces reached the shore of the Baltic Sea to the south of the town of LIEPAJA (LIBAVA) and secured the town of PALANGA, thus cutting off a possible retreat route for the Nazi force entrenched in the RIGA – LIBAVA – VINDAVA area, to East Russia.
To the west of KAUNAS, our forces took the administrative center of Soviet Lithuania, the town of SAKIAI.
In North Transylvania to the west and southwest of the town of REGIN, our forces, together with the Romanian forces, secured over 50 settlements, including the major settlements of GORENI, DEDRAD, MEZE-ERMENES, MEZE-PAGOCHA, MEZE-SHALJI, CIGARENI, ANTON, FELEACSUL (5 kilometers to the south of the town of KLUJ), VLACHA, and SOMESUL RECE.
In Hungary to the south of the city of DEBRECEN, our forces, continuing their offensive, secured the town and railroad station of DERECKE and the settlements of KONYAR, BOCSAI, ESTAR, and HENCIDA, approaching closer to the city of DEBRECEN and engaging in close combat with the enemy in the outskirts of the town.
In Yugoslavia to the south and southeast of the town of POZAREVAC, our forces, together with units of the People’s Liberation Army of Yugoslavia, secured the settlements of PANKOVO, ZABARI, VELIKA PLANA, IZVARICA, RAVNA REKA, LUKOVO, BOLEVAC, and the railroad junction of VELIKA PLANA, cutting the NIS – BELGRADE railway and highway. On October 8 and 9, our forces captured 3,200 German personnel in this area.
Reconnaissance operations and local fighting were reported elsewhere on the front.
On October 9, our forces destroyed 106 German tanks on all fronts. The Soviet air and air defense forces downed 78 enemy aircraft.
