On March 13, southeast of Danzig, the Red Army, advancing northwards along the east bank of the Vistula River, captured the settlements of Reimerswalde, Neu Teichenwalde, Vierzehnhuben, Breckerfeld, Prangenau, Neukirch and Palschau.

Northwest of the town of Gdynia, the Red Army took the settlements of Reda, Polchau, Bresen, Oslanin, Rutzau, Gnesdau Schwarzau, Hallerowo and Chlapau. On March 12, upwards of 1,000 prisoners were taken.

The 1st Belarussian Front forces fighting for the fortress of Kystrzyn (Kustrin) captured over 3,000 German soldiers and officers, including Colonel Krueger, the stronghold governor.

In Hungary, northeast and east of Lake Balaton, large German infantry and armor forces kept on attacking despite heavy losses. On March 12, Soviet artillery destroyed 45 German tanks and self-propelled guns in the area, and in addition 50 tanks and self-propelled guns of the enemy were destroyed at minefields.

Reconnaissance operations and local fighting continued on other fronts.

134 enemy tanks and self-propelled guns were damaged and destroyed and nine enemy aircraft were downed on March 12.
