To the northwest of the town of PJARNU (PERNOV), our forces crossed the strait of SUR VAIN to take over the island of MUHU.
To the south and southeast of the town of TURKA (the DROGOBYCH Region), our forces secured several settlements, including BUTELKA, JAWOROW, MATKOW, KRYWKA, FELIZENTAL, TUHOLKA, and RIKOW.
In northeast Romania to the west and southwest of the town of KIMPULUNG, our forces, acting on mountainous and forest-clad terrain, secured over 30 settlements, including KIRLIBABA, LISTUR, JAKOBENI, KOSNA, TETARUL, RUNKU, SMIDI, POIANA, NAGRA SARULUI and railroad stations of BOTES, KIRLIBABA, and TIBEU.
In North Transylvania, our forces sought continually to expand the bridgeheads on the right-hand bank of the river MURESUL to the north of the town of TIRGU MURES and secured the settlements of POARTA, ONUKA, TOLDALAG, and SARPATAK.
Following the Soviet scouts who had successfully infiltrated into Yugoslavia several days before, yesterday our forces to the south of the Romanian town of TURNU SEVERIN - on the right-hand bank of the river DANUBE - crossed the Yugoslav border to take on and defeat the enemy. Several first engagements brought local success and the settlements of TEKIA, KLADOVO, VELIKA VRBIKA, RETKOVO, KORBOVA, VAZUGA, MILULINOVAC, DAVIDOVAC, KLADUSNICA, PETROVO SELO, MANASTIRICA, PODVRSKA, VIELKA KAMENICA, VELESNICA, LUBICEVAC, GRABOVICA, BRZA PALANKA, MIROC, RADUEVAC, SAMARINIVAC and NEGOTIN were taken over.
Elsewhere on the front reconnaissance operations and local combat engagements went on.
On September 29 our forces destroyed 63 German tanks on all fronts. The Soviet air and air defense forces downed 14 enemy aircraft.
