On October 11 on the island of SAAREMAA (EZEL), our forces secured the settlements of UNGRU and IMARA on the southern end of the island. At the same time, our forces took the islands of VILSANDI LAID and ABRUKA SAAR.
To the north and southeast of the town of KLAIPEDA (MEMEL), our forces, continuing their offensive, secured over 100 settlements, including PIKELIAI, SKUODAS, DUNIKA, SIKSNIAI, RUCAVA, NIDASCIEMS, MONCISKIAI, KLIUONELI, JAKUBOVO, GRIBZANE, MEDSEDI, SUPORAI, VILKUKOMPNE, SUGINTAI, ZALTRYSKI, and GREICAI.
To the northwest and west of the town of SAKIAI, our forces secured over 50 settlements, including GELGUDISKAI, KRUSONAI, KAIMELE, LIMANTAI, NARTY, PLIORISE, and PONOVE.
In North Transylvania, our forces continued an offensive to take more than 70 settlements, including important settlements of RADNA-BORBEREK, PARVA, MURESENI-BYRGELY, KALIBICA, ROMAN-BUDAK, ARDANY, NAD-SHAJO, SAS-PENTEK, TEKE, STUPINI, ZISUJA, TUSON, BERKENYES SUATU, KOZOKNA, APAHIDA, and the railroad stations of PARVA, MEGURA, MURESHENII BIRGAULUI, TEKE, SERMESEL, and APAHIDA.
On October 11 units of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, continuing their successful offensive, took the city of KLUJ, the capital of Transylvania. At the same time, the 2nd Ukrainian Front crossed the river TISZA to take the town of SEGED, a major Hungarian economic, political and administrative center.
In Yugoslavia to the northeast of NIS, our forces, together with units of the People’s Liberation Army of Yugoslavia, took the town and railroad station of KNJAZEVEC.
Reconnaissance operations and local fighting were reported elsewhere on the front.
On October 10, our forces destroyed 145 German tanks on all fronts. The Soviet air and air defense forces downed 62 enemy aircraft.
