In the course of May 5, the troops of the 3rd BELARUSSIAN Front fought battles to clear the FRISCHE NEHRUNG Spit of the enemy and seized the settlements of LANGHACKEN, SCHELLNMUHL, SMIRGEL, PRIBBERNAU, SCHOTTLAND.

The troops of the 2nd BELARUSSIAN Front seized the city of  SWINEMUNDE -  a large port and naval  base of the Nazis on the   Baltic Sea  and mopped up the last groups of the enemy on the WOLLIN and USEDOM islands, seizing  the large settlements of KOLZOW, MISDROW, LEBBIN, ALBEK, SEEBAD  GERINGSDORF, USEDOM,  KOLPINSEE, ZINNOWITZ, PEENEMUNDE. On May 4, the troops of the front took 11,700 Nazi men and officers prisoner and captured the following trophies: 55 aircraft; 24 tanks; 88 guns. 

The troops of the 1st BELARUSSIAN Front, advancing southwest of the city of BRANDENBURG, seized the cities of ZISAR, LOBURG, BURG, MEKKERN, GOMMEN, ROSLAU. On May 4, the troops of the front took 2,860 Nazi men and officers prisoner.

The troops of the 4th UKRAINIAN Front, advancing   southwest and south of the town of MORAVSKA OSTRAVA, took by force the towns of HOF (DVORCE), BERN (MOR BEROUN), FULNEK, MISTEK and the large settlements of MELTSCH, RAUCH, DOMSTADTL, STADT LIBAU, BARTOSOVICE, METILOVICE, FRIEDLAND, KUNCICE, ROZNOV. On May 4, the troops of the front took 1,100 Nazi men and officers prisoner.

The troops of the 2nd UKRAINIAN Front, pursuing the offensive northeast of BRNO, seized the town of KROMERIZ.

The situation did not change considerably on the other sections of the front.   

On May 4, 26 enemy tanks were disabled and destroyed on all fronts. A total of 14 enemy aircraft were brought down in air battles or by anti-aircraft fire.
