On April 27, the 3rd Belarussian Front forces advanced about 10 km along the Frische Nehrung spit southwest of the city of Pillau. More than 3,000 prisoners were taken in the area on April 26.

The 2nd Belarussian Front forces exploited success, taking the towns of Prenzlau and Angermunde, key enemy strongpoints in western Pomerania, and Poelitz as well as such large settlements, as Jasenitz, Hammer, Stoltzenburg, Pampow, Mewegen, Boock, Locknitz, Bergholz, Brussow, Fahrenwalde, Klockow, Bertikow, Gramzow, Passow and Hohenlandin.

The 1st Belarussian Front forces continued their offensive, seizing the towns of Ratenow, Spandau and Potsdam, key road junctions and formidable enemy strongpoints in central Germany. At the same time, the Soviet troops kept on fighting on the streets of Berlin, assuming control over the districts of Neukolln and Tempelhof and the Tempelhof Airport. On April 26, more than 8,500 prisoners were taken and 26 aircraft, 200 tanks and 290 field guns captured.

The 1st Ukrainian Front forces and US and British allied troops cut the German front in two by striking from the eastern and western directions, linking up vic. Torgau in central Germany at 1330hrs on April 25. Thus, the German troops in northern Germany have been cut off from those in the southern part of the country.

On April 27, the Front’s troops dislodged the enemy from the town of Wittenberg, a key enemy strongpoint on the Elbe, and continued to fight on the streets of southwest Berlin where they took the districts of Steglitz and Schmargendorf. Upwards of 3,000 prisoners were taken and 85 enemy planes seized on April 26.

In Czechoslovakia, the 2nd Ukrainian Front forces took the towns of Uhersky Brod and Uhersky Ostroh and such settlements as Sucha Loz, Havrice, Vlcnov, Hluk and Blatnice.

No major changes were reported on the other parts of the front.

110 enemy tanks and self-propelled guns were damaged and destroyed and 33 enemy aircraft were downed in aerial combat and by anti-aircraft guns on all fronts on April 26.
