On September 21 on their way to Tallinn the forces of the Leningrad Front, continuing their offensive, took over the town and railroad station of RAKVERE, and secured over 300 other settlements, including such important points as AZERI, KABALA, KADRINA, KAUKSI, RADNA, LAEKSVERE, ROHU, SIMUNA, VAJKE MARJA, RAKKE, PIKKNURME and railroad stations of AZERI, VAEKULA, and RAKKE. The forces, advancing to the west of the town of NARVA, fully cleared the enemy out of the isthmus between Lake Chudskoye and the Gulf of Finland, to join the forces advancing along the Lake Chudskoye’s western shore.
To the northwest and west of the town of VALGA, our forces secured several settlements.
To the west of the town of JELGAVA (MITAVA), our forces successfully repulsed the enemy’s multiple armor-supported infantry attacks.
To the south and southeast of the town of KROSNO, our forces secured the settlements of TEODOROWKA, DUKLA, JASENKA, SZKLARY, DAROW, MOSZANEC, SZCZAWNE, and NOVOSJULKI.
In Western Romania, our forces, together with the Romanian Army, secured up to 100 settlements, including the city and the railroad station of LIPOVA and important settlements of INEU, SIKULA, SALAUS, PINKOTA, SIRIA, SENDORF, VINGA, KELACA, BECIKERENUL,and railroad stations of INEU, MOKREA, TARNOVA, PINKOTA, SIRIA, CICIR, VINGA, KOKOTA, MARUCI SOARE, BESENOWA NOUA, TEMESKENE, and HODONY.
Elsewhere on the front reconnaissance operations went on.
On September 20 our forces destroyed 47 German tanks on all fronts. The Soviet air and air defense forces downed 11 enemy aircraft.
