On September 29 on their way to RIGA, our forces sought to gain advantageous positions and in doing so secured over 30 settlements, including EJKAZI, SVITI, KARTUZI, and PANTARI.
To the south and southeast of the town of TURKA (the DROGOBYCH Region), our forces advanced into enemy defenses on mountainous and forest-clad terrain to secure over 60 settlements, including such important points as VYSOCKO VYZNE, KRASNE, MOHNATE, ORAVA, KOZEVA, GOLOWECKO, LIBOHORA, SLAVSKO, LUDWIKOWKA, WISKOW, and railroad stations of GREBENOW, ZELEMIANKA, and ROZHANKA.
To the west and southwest of the town of DELATIN (STANISLAW Region), our forces, defying enemy resistance and fortifications on mountainous and forest-clad terrain, secured over 40 settlements, including OCMOLODA, BURSUCZNA, ZELENA, POLANICA, WOROHTA, ARDZELUZA and railroad stations of BURSUCZNA, ZELENA, WORONENKA, and WOROHTA.
In North Transylvania, our forces, breaking down enemy defenses, took over the town of TIRGU MURES and secured more than 50 other settlements, including such important points as JERNUTENY, PETELE, HABIK, KERTVEFAIA, JARADE MURES, NAGYERNYE, TORFALVA, and railroad stations of KURTIFAIA, GHIRNESTI, TINOIZA, ARNSU MARE, MURSEL, and NYARADTE. The Soviet forces crossed the river MURESUL and secured a bridgehead on its weatern bank. The bridgehead includes the settlements of APALINA, VAIDA SENT IVAN, KINARY, KURTENI, and REMETES.
Elsewhere on the front reconnaissance operations and local combat engagements went on.
On September 28 our forces destroyed 29 German tanks on all fronts. The Soviet air and air defense forces downed 21 enemy aircraft.
