On January 29, our forces secured over 100 settlements in East Prussia, including such important points as Liaptau, Mollenen, Sidlung (3 kilometers to the northwest of Konigsberg), Ludwigswalde, Altenberg (4 kilometers to the south of Konigsberg), Mansfeld, Tarau, Schrombenen, Stolzenfeld, Gross Langwalde, Langheim, Sturmhubel, Rossel, Gisewen, and the railway stations of Liaptau, Grossraum, Nesselbek, Schrombenen, and Rossel. At the same time, our forces to the northwest of the town of Allenstein repulsed strong mounted enemy attacks targeted westward.

On January 28 in East Prussia the forces of the Second Belorussian Front seized 130 German aircraft, 136 pieces of artillery, 270 motor cars, and captured over 1,300 German personnel.

Around the town of Torun, the Soviet forces continued bearing down on the encircled enemy force.

To the north and northwest of the town of Bydgoszcz (Bromberg), our forces, continuing their successful offensive, secured the town of Vandsburg, and over 60 other settlements, including such important points as Briesen, Prust, and Komirowo.

The forces of the First Belorussian Front, continuing their successful offensive, crossed the German border to the west and northwest of Poznan into German Pommern, and on January 29 secured the towns of Schenlanke, Lukatz, Kreuz, Woldenberg, and Driesen, important transport junctions and defense areas, and secured over 150 other settlements in German Pommern. At the same time, Soviet forces secured the Polish towns of Cirke, Birnbaum, Neustadt, Neutomischel, Benczen, Wolstyn, and over 400 other settlements.

Around Poznan, our forces continued bearing down on the enemy encircled in the city.

To the southwest and south of the town of Katovice, our forces advanced forward to secure over 70 settlements, including such important points as Schonwald, Knorow, Bujanow, Wyry, Kobjir, Wolau, Kanew, Bestwina, Kozy, Lipnik, and Porombka.

The forces of the Fourth Ukrainian Front, continuing their successful offensive on the restricted Carpathian mountainous and foresty terrain, on January 29 secured the town of Nowy Targ, an important transport junction and defense area, and over 100 other settlements, including such important points as Oselec, Jerdanow, Sidzina, Spikowice, Czarny Dunajez, Zdiar, and Szunawa.

In Budapest, the Soviet forces were meanwhile bearing down on the enemy force encircled in Buda, the western part of the city, and secured 32 blocks.

On January 28, our forces eliminated 203 German tanks on all fronts. The Soviet air and air defense forces downed  116 enemy aircraft.
