In the course of February 1, in EASTERN PRUSSIA, our troops continued offensive fighting during which they seized the town of SEEBURG and took by force over 50 other settlements, including DRUGENEN, KUMENEN, POJERSTIETEN, PONACKEN, SCHUDITTEN (17km northwest of KONIGSBERG), KNAUTEN, ROGENHAUSEN, TOLNIGER, ZIEGFRIEDSWALDE, LOKITTEN, FLEMING, ESCHENAU, GLOTTAU.

Troops of the 2nd BELARUSSIAN Front, crushing the resistance of an encircled enemy group, took by storming on February 1 the town and fortress of TORUN (TORN) – an important communication junction and a powerful Nazi stronghold on the VISTULA River.

North and northwest of the town of SCHNEIDEMUHL, our troops, continuing their offensive, seized the town of RATZEBUR and took by force the settlements of PINNOW, BRIESENITZ, ZAMBORST, WISSULKE, LEBENKE, SPRINGBERG. Our troops encircled the enemy garrison in the town of SCHNEIDEMUHL and fought to eliminate it.

Northeast and east of FRANKFURT-AM-ODER, our troops took by force the town and railway junction of SCHWERIN and seized in the Brandenburg province over a hundred other settlements, including the large settlements of LIEBENOW, DURINGSHOFDORF, HAMMER, KONIGSWALDE, GLEISEN, SEEREN, LAGOW, MUHLBOCK, GRIESEL, LEITERSDORF.

In the area of POZNAN, fighting to eliminate the enemy units encircled in the city continued.

West of the town of LESZNO (LISSA), our troops crossed the German border and took by force in Germany the towns of SCHLEZIERSEE and FRAUSTADT and over 50 other settlements, including SCHUSSENZE, SCHENAWE, MERZDORF, LANGEMARK, KURSDORF, SCHLICHTIGSHEIM.

In BUDAPEST, our troops continued fighting to eliminate an enemy garrison encircled in the western part of the city (BUDA) and seized several blocks.

On January 31, 195 German tanks were disabled and destroyed on all fronts. A total of 26 enemy aircraft were brought down in aerial combat or by anti-aircraft guns.
